Over the past 15 years, I have worked extensively with children and young people from 4-18 years. I am committed to giving children a voice and a safe place to explore feelings and work through whatever difficulties they are experiencing. I have worked with children and young people who are experiencing stress and anxiety, depression, self-harm, behavioural difficulties and issues of identity. I have experience of working with children and families who have been bereaved and children and young people undergoing assessment or have already been diagnosed with neuro-developmental difficulties such as autism and ADHD.
I offer a range of play-based and creative approaches when working with children and use a person-centred approach – working at the child or young person’s pace and alongside their family where and when appropriate.
I have, over the years, developed a particular interest in attachment theory and how to work with children and parents with attachment difficulties, including children who are fostered and adopted.
I have up-to-date training in Child Protection and Safeguarding and experience of liaising with statutory services e.g schools, CAMHS. I am a qualified primary teacher and Special Educational Needs Coordinator and bring a robust understanding of child development to my work.
